You Don’t Need More Motivation. You Need This...

You ever catch yourself saying, “I really need to do this…” and then—nothing happens?

Yeah, me too.

Years ago, I was carrying 30–40 pounds of extra weight. I kept saying I wanted to lose it. I’d look in the mirror and feel frustrated. But I didn’t act. I told myself I was too busy. Or I’d start… then stop. Sound familiar?

But here’s the truth I had to face: It wasn’t about the weight. It wasn’t about time.
It was fear.

Not fear of failure—fear of being seen. I teach discipline. I teach excellence. So why couldn’t I apply it to myself?

Because self-sabotage is sneaky. It disguises itself as perfectionism. It wears the mask of procrastination. It sounds like, “I’ll start when things calm down,” or “I just need a plan first.”

But really? It’s fear trying to keep you safe.

Here’s what broke the cycle: I called it out. I said out loud, “This area of my life is not okay.”
Then I acted—before I felt ready. I picked up the phone. I called three personal trainers. No plan. No perfect strategy. Just a decision.

That one step created momentum.

Listen, willpower wasn’t my problem. I had plenty of that. I just needed a trigger—a reminder that my health mattered more than my pride. That my son needed a mom who showed up fully.

I didn’t wait to feel confident. I acted scared. And you know what? The fear faded. Movement beat fear.

So if you’re stuck in a loop of saying you want something but not doing it?
Call it what it is.
Lower the stakes.
And move.

You don’t need more motivation. You need action.

Today.
