Let me ask you something real—are you leading your day, or is your day leading you?
I am walking through a season packed to the brim—graduation deadlines, teenagers learning to drive, a team at full throttle. Every moment felt critical. And in the middle of it all, I had to ask myself: am I reacting to everything, or am I executing the strategy I set at the beginning of the year?
If you’ve ever felt like you’re just bouncing from fire to fire, you're not alone. And guess what? That might mean you’re actually a great leader. You see the problems. You move fast. You fix things. But here's the truth you need to hear:
Being great in a crisis doesn’t build the future. Strategy does.
Reaction Mode Feels Productive—But It’s Not
Let’s be real—reaction mode gives us a dopamine hit. We feel important. We feel needed. But staying in that mode too long? It’s exhausting. And it steals your creativity.
When you’re constantly solving problems, there’s no space left to dream, to build, to grow. You don’t just lose time—you lose vision.
And if you lose vision, your team will too.
Strategy Starts with a Simple Shift
Now, I’m not saying you won’t have days that feel like chaos. I have them too. We all do. But we cannot live there. That mindset will never get us to our long-term goals.
Here’s what I’ve learned, and I practice this every single week: Don’t just plan your tasks. Plan your thinking.
That means blocking time to review the strategy, to realign with the vision, and to ensure you're moving toward what matters most—not just what’s urgent today.
The End-of-Week Reset
Here’s your leadership challenge. It’s simple, but powerful:
At the end of this week, ask yourself: Was I in reaction mode or strategy mode?
If you’ve been firefighting, that’s okay. Give yourself grace. But then shift. Get back in the driver’s seat. You are the captain of your ship. No one else can take the wheel.
"I Am Responsible"—for my energy, my focus, my outcomes.
And guess what? You’ve got what it takes. You just need to reset.

You’re not just a problem-solver.
You’re a visionary.
And the world needs your strategy.
