Are You Planning Your Week?

Reduce your plan to writing. The moment you complete this, you will have definitely given concrete form to the intangible desire.

Do you start your weeks with the best of intentions but find it difficult to complete (or even start) a particular project or task? When you plan your week in advance, you put yourself back in the driver’s seat. Here are a few reminders to help you get ahead of your business:

  • Plan your schedule on the same day and at the same time each week. Whether you choose Friday at 5 PM or Sunday at 2 PM, make it a part of your routine. You’re much more likely to be consistent if planning is a normal part of your life.
  • Use one calendar. Typically having separate calendars for home and work only adds to the confusion.
  • Prime prospecting hours are 10 AM – 2 PM. This is the time you should be out calling on referral sources, not doing paper work. Things like copying loan packages, creating marketing fliers, updating your database, researching Key Targets™ and preparing for meetings should be done either early morning or in the evening.

Start each day with a morning brief and end it with an evening debrief. The brief and debrief give you the opportunity to “fine-tune” the day’s schedule, tie up loose ends and know what tomorrow holds in store. This practice alone will create unbelievable success.
