What if you’re living a legacy you didn’t mean to leave?

I need you to sit with this for a second: Are you living on autopilot, or are you building something that outlives you?

Because whether you realize it or not, you’re leaving a legacy every single day.

Last week hit me like a brick wall—three people I knew, gone. No warning. No goodbyes. And it made me stop and ask myself: “What story am I writing with my life?” I’m not going anywhere (don’t worry!), but their passing forced me to zoom out and really think: What am I leaving behind?

The Trap: Waiting for ‘someday’

I remember coaching a leader—super talented, heart of gold. But every day, they let the little moments slide. Skipped the check-ins. Didn’t follow up. Missed chances to speak life into their team. Not because they didn’t care—because they thought they had time.

We all fall into that trap. We think legacy is about the big stuff—titles, trophies, LinkedIn headlines. But it’s not. It’s the tiny, quiet, everyday actions that tell the real story.

And here’s the truth: if you’re not living your purpose now, you’re still leaving a legacy—just not the one you want.

The Fix: Start leading like today’s your only shot

Legacy doesn’t wait for the perfect plan or the big break. It shows up in how you show up—right now.

Here’s what I started doing, and I challenge you to try it:

  • Speak belief before someone earns it. That’s leadership.

  • Say the kind word—even when it feels awkward. That’s impact.

  • Choose purpose over productivity. That’s the shift.

One of the most powerful things I get to do is remind people they matter—before they believe it for themselves. That’s the work. That’s the ripple effect.

And you? You have that same power.

The Moment: You’re already building it

Listen—I’m not perfect. I mess this up all the time. But I’ve made a decision: I will not leave my legacy to chance.

If one person crosses my path today, they’re going to know they matter. That’s it. That’s my reset.

Because here’s the deal: God doesn’t make mistakes. You’re here, on purpose, with a purpose. Your job is to stop waiting and start living like it matters. Because it does.

So here’s your next step

Then come back and tell me—what’s one thing you’re going to do differently today?

You don’t need a 10-year plan. You need a 10-second decision to show up with purpose. And I promise you—if you do that, you’re already rewriting your legacy.

Let’s go.
