Wake Up Happier With Just One Habit

Let me guess…
You wake up with a list in your head.
You already feel behind.
And before you’ve even hit the shower, you’re in a funk.

Been there.

But I’ve found a formula that works—and it starts before I leave the bedroom.

I make my bed.

Sounds simple. Too simple, maybe. But here’s the trick: while I’m making the bed, I practice gratitude.
For the bed itself. For the room I’m in. For my family. For the day ahead.

And no, I didn’t always do this.
In fact, I didn’t even realize it was a thing until I looked back. I was raised in poverty—I didn’t always have a beautiful bed or space. So now, I notice. I appreciate. I say thank you, every morning.

That’s the first part of the formula: gratitude.

It resets your brain. Trains it to look for what’s good.
Even when the world outside your bed looks messy.

The second part? Progress.

Making the bed gives me momentum.
Before emails, before calls, before chaos… I’ve already done one thing right. One thing forward.

That’s the power combo.
Gratitude + Progress = Joy.

And no—it’s not about crushing the whole to-do list. I’ve got a huge one. But happiness isn’t about doing everything. It’s about doing something—on purpose.

This week, I dare you:
Make your bed with intention.
While your hands are working, let your heart notice what’s good.
Say thank you. Say it out loud if you want.
Then walk into your day knowing you’ve already moved forward.

Listen—happiness isn’t something you find. It’s something you create.
And it starts before coffee.
